"Good teaching is one-fourth preparation and three-fourths theater."
~Gail Godwin
This summer has been quite the whirlwind and I cannot believe school is already starting back up. I still have to reflect about camp, but that's for another night. (When it's not 11:30 and I have to be up at 5am...)
PS...camp was great.
But, I'm so ecstatic to get back to school. Having the students in my room today made me so excited! It's so nice to have those daily reminders that you're in the right profession. Plus, kids provide you with the best stories. They're some of the funniest people I know. Good news, I have a shorter class this year! That means I appear to be a little bit taller and won't get mistaken for a student from the back on days when I don't wear heels.
Short story: Had my kiddos write a letter to me today about things that would help me get to know them better and also make me a more effective teacher for them. It amazes me how well kids know themselves at 9 years old...and also a little sad to see some of the insecurities. They are a wonderful bunch of kiddos though and I feel so blessed by my class this year. (and that now I have a year under my belt.)
Happy School Year everyone! Hopefully fall weather will kick in soon! (or at least before October for some of us!) ;)
