"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
-Matthew 28:19-20
I was baptized as a baby and never felt the strong urge to be baptized again. Until recently.
Katie and I have been attending the same church for awhile now and love it. Today we were both baptized. It was incredible to share my story in front of a crowd like that. And even more incredible to stand up there with Katie while she shared her story.
When thinking about what to say in my testimony, it was important to me to mention that I had been baptized before. Now I see the importance in being baptized after conversion to Christ and also the importance of it being your decision. Baptism for a baby is a wonderful symbol of the parent's covenant with the Lord to raise their child according to his desire, but it is ultimately not the decision of the child. It's neat to realize that I may not be where I am today without that promise made by my parents, but also to make that covenant with God on my own this time.
And...guess who we saw after the service?
Our Young Life leader from high school...love it! How cool for her to get to see this, years after hanging out with us.
So proud of you Katie!
Aww, I want to hear about it this weekend... WHEN I GET TO SEE YOU!!! <3
